POP3 is great for downloading your email from the server and storing it locally on your Computer. POP3 will work on multiple devices checking the same account. To see mail on all your devices you must select leave a copy of messages on the server, we recommend you limit the days to save them on the server to roughly 7 so that you do not exceed your quota.
IMAP is designed to store your mail on the server so that you can collaborate between multiple devices more seamlessly. Because your information remains on the server you must monitor your usage as not to go over any quotas for your email account.
We recommend a combination of these methods, setup your PC using POP3 to download and archive your email, have your PC leave a copy on the server for 5 to 7 days, then setup your mobile devices or tablets with IMAP so you can see your messages while you are on the go!

Special Note regarding SSL: When you connect in an encrypted form you may see Certificate warnings if you are not using the correct mail server address, make sure you use mail.starnova.com as your server addresses. You may also see these warnings the first time you add your account to a new device as your new device looks up recommended settings at various web addresses, approving this cert in this case is ok.
If you are using Verizon DSL to connect to the internet, to send your email you will need to change your outgoing SMTP port from 25 to the submit port 587.
Outgoing server notes: Because we use SPF for all of our domains, if you are using another internet provider to connect to the internet for your email to work reliably you must use our outgoing mail server for any mail sent from your mail.starnova.com email addresses.

To adjust your spam filter settings log into webmail and click spam filter in the menu!

Old server addresses are no longer supported, such as popmail. pop. pop3. and smtp. You must use mail.starnova.com
